Bofoakwa Tano have set up a befitting Bono derby to play in the final of the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup following their win over Dreams FC on Sunday.

The Bofo lads recorded a 2-1 extra time victory at the WAFA Park in Sogakope to seal a place in the final of the cup competition.

Both teams failed to find the back of the net in an uneventful opening half of the game as they headed into the break 0-0.

However, it was Bofoakwa who took the lead after the recess.

A cheeky finish with the outside of the right foot from Aboagye Dacosta gave the Bono side the lead just two minutes into the second half.

Dreams pegged Bofoakwa back in the 60th minute through a controversial penalty. Skipper Abdul Jalilu rose to the occasion to net the equaliser.

The Still Believe lads’ equaliser meant the game travelled to extra time after 1-1 at full time.

Just as they did at the start of the second half of the game, Elijah Addai restored Bofoakwa’s lead to make it 2-1.

They eventually held on the latter stages of the game to edge closer to the title as they made the final.

Bofoakwa Tano have beaten Dreams FC 2-1 in the semifinal of the MTN FA Cup. The 1983 FA Cup finalists will battle Nsoatreman FC in the 2023/24 final.

Bofoakwa Tano first played in the FA Cup Final in 1983.

The final will be played in June at a yet to be determined venue.
